Abstract

A gas containing an acid component is deacidified by contacting it with an aqueous amine solution which absorbs the acid component, and the loaded amine solution is regenerated by heating under predetermined temperature and pressure conditions. The amine used is an alkyl-2-ethanolamine containing an alkyl radical which has 1 to 6 carbon atoms. The flow rates of gas and amine solution are so adjusted that 0.7 to 1.2 moles of the acid component are absorbed per mole of amine. The amine solution has a concentration of 0.5 to 6 moles per litre, and the contacting of the gas with the amine solution is effected at 40 DEG C to 100 DEG C.
