Abstract

Refractory cement based on a liq. Al phosphate binder contains >=1 cold setting solid refractory components which react with the Al phosphate and/or water liberated during setting or added to make a workable mix. The cement also contains >=1 thermally conductive components. The Al phosphate is made by adding Al2O3 to syrupy H3PO4. The cement contains 15-35 1 al phosphate to 100 kg solids which contain 10-50 wt.% refractory cement, 0-6 wt.% clay, 30-80 wt% SiC and 10-30 wt% ferrosilicon or 95% pure Si. Used for fixing the casting plate in a chill mould.
