Abstract
Procedimiento para producir un material de banda fibras de vidrio de peso ligero, caracterizado porque comprende los pasos de: (1) proveer un lodo de fibras de vidrio inicial que consiste esencialmente de un líquido de dispersión que tiene una viscosidad de por lo menos aproximadamente 2 cps y fibras largas en la forma de fasces de fibras no abiertos por lo menos parcialmente, las fibras en dichos fasces teniendo una longitud de fibra de 6,34 mm y más; (2) hacer fluir continuamente dicho lodo de fibras a través de una cámara de dispersión en línea provista con una pluralidad de impulsores no cortadores, adaptados para generar turbulencia rompedora de flujo, de alta intensidad, dicho lodo siendo alimentado continuamente a través de la cámara a un régimen de producción suficientemente rápido para que las cámaras de dispersión de fibras de fabricación de papel convencionales suministran un tiempo de residencia en la cámara de sólo aproximadamente 10 minutos y menos; (3) someter dicho lodo a dichas regiones con la turbulencia siendo de intensidad suficiente para abrir rápidamente los fasces de fibras y dispersar las fibras individuales durante dicho tiempo de residencia dentro de la cámara; (4) separar las fibras dispersadas y el líquido de la cámara como una dispersión de fibras substancialmente uniforme y homogénea; (5) diluir dicha dispersión; y (6) aplicar dicha dispersión diluida de un área formadora de lámina de una máquina para fabricación de papel para formar la banda de fibras de vidrio deseada.
