Abstract

A model motor racing track has an inner (20) and outer track (22) each with three conductor rails (A,B, C). Each rail (A, B, C) supplies power to a model car (24, 26, 28) respectively. Each car has an electric motor which can drive either one of its rear wheels through a gear train. In order to overtake the car in front a switch (136) on the control box (124) or (126) is actuated which reverses the direction of the electric motor in the car. This reversal of motor direction transfers the drive to the opposite wheel but still drives the car in the same direction. Transferring the drive to the other wheel causes the car to be diverted to the inner track and press against the inner rail (16).
