Abstract
The electric drive is used where tram lines are available to reduce atmospheric pollution in towns. The two sets of wheels can be steered or guided by the tracks. There is an energy supply system with switchgear and a transmission to connect either the IC engine power or the battery-less electric power to at least one set of road wheels. An alternative layout has a transmission connecting the IC engine power to one set of wheels and the electric power to the other set of wheels. A further layout has a third set of wheels added to the second layout. These have an alternative drive and a fourth set of wheels can also be used. The energy supply consists of a conductor running parallel to the track rail and a collector shoe gear in contact with it.
