Abstract

This interjoist element, for making filler blocks for a floor, comprises a block (1) made of expanded polystyrene and a layer of mortar (3) which is reinforced with glass fibres (4) the polystyrene block comprises a face, called underface (1a), which is to face downwards in the filler blocks and is to be bordered laterally by two rebates (1b) and (1c) for holding the interjoist element the layer of mortar and the fabric of fibres extend in a known manner over the whole underface and over the two rebates so that, when the interjoist element is positioned so as to bear via its rebates in the filler block, the continuous fabric of glass fibres is held at the border at the rebates by the weight of the filler block and of a compression topping poured over the filler block and forms a stable layer capable of retaining the filler block assembly. This interjoist element enjoys the advantages of interjoist elements made of expanded synthetic material and makes it possible to build floors complying with the requirements imposed with respect to fire risks. In addition, it lends itself to the direct application of coatings, plasters, paints or the like and it is perfectly protected against attacks by rodents, insects, birds, etc., and by gases, vapours or corrosive emanations.
