Abstract

On a base frame (10) which receives a chain scraper conveyor (11), frames (14) on which one fixed, and one movable, crushing jaw (16 and 17, respectively) is supported are located at the crusher inlet or outlet a drive (21) with a crank drive causes the said jaw to move in an oscillating fashion. The fixed crushing jaw (16) has, viewed in the direction of throughflow, crushing counterbearings (26A - 26D) which lie one behind the other and are arched towards the oscillating crushing jaw (17) and have apex lines (27A - 27D) which are offset in steps with respect to one another, and the movable crushing jaw (17) has crushing bars (25A - 25D) which lie opposite the crushing counterbearing (26A - 26D). As a result, the material to be crushed is broken up in steps so that even material to be crushed which is present in large pieces, for example anode blocks, can be comminuted with a good crushing efficiency without the risk of the crushing jaw becoming blocked.
