Abstract
The rotor shaft (11) carries a ferromagnetic core (12) on which is located the rotor winding (15). The fingers of the ferromagnetic claw pole pieces (17, 18) reach over the core and winding from either end with an air space between them. The flange end (18a) of one pole piece, but preferable both pole pieces, is bored out to correspond to the core dia. (14) and give a press fit between the parts. The use of a press fit in this area gives a stable mechanical location for the pole piece, and by correct choice of dimensions, also ensures that the magnetic circuit is completed with minimum reluctance or leakage.
