Abstract

Metallurgical formed coke is produced in an indirectly heated chamber oven by carbonisation of briquettes, made of a coal mixture, using pitch as the binding agent. The mouldings of the charge are so dimensioned that their size or ratio of surface to vol. is kept to an optimum relationship with the inside chamber width. Process prevents the caking together of the briquettes or formed coke during the carbonization. The discharged of the coke is not imped and the formed coke has a uniform high quality.
