Abstract
Process for preparing phenoxyalkylamides of the formula: ** (see formula) ** Wherein r is methyl or ethyl; and x is chloro or trifluoromethyl; and when x is chlorine, m is 3 with the proviso that positions 2 and 4 are not both occupied in the same phenyl ring; and when x is trifluoromethyl, m is 1; characterized in that steps of (a) comprises reacting a phenol of formula: ** (see formula) ** Wherein x and m is defined as above, with an acid of formula: ** (see formula) ** Wherein r is defined as above, in the presence of sodium hydroxide, to produce an acid of the formula: Wherein r and m are defined as above; (b) reacting the product of step (a) with phosgene, in the presence of dimethylformamide, to form an acid chloride of the formula: ** (see formula) ** Wherein r and m are defined as above; and (c) reacting the product of step (b) with an amine of formula; ** (see formula) ** In the presence of triethylamine.
