1409987 #-Amino-#-imino propionic acid esters AGFA-GEVAERT AG 31 Jan 1974 [31 Jan 1973] 04537/74 Heading C2C Novel compounds have the formula and tautomeric forms thereof wherein R 1 is an alkyl group; R 2 is an alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group, any of which may be substituted; R 3 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, and A is a halogen atom. The free base may be liberated from the compounds by treatment with a base. The compounds are prepared by reacting in the presence of hydrogen chloride a cyanoacetate of formula with a substituted or unsubstituted phenol or thiophenyl of formula where Ar is an optionally substituted phenyl group and X is -O- or -S- to give a compound of formula and reacting this compound with a tertiary amine of formula
