Abstract

Improvements in oil filters for an engine that has a system of oil lubrication in circulation, characterized in that each filter is provided with a box that carries inside a filter element and oil inlet and outlet openings in communication with the engine lubrication system; an oil-soluble, relatively solid mass having improved oil properties; means defining a fluid flow path along which the oil flows into the enclosure between the filter element and the openings; and means for regulating the dissolution rate of the mass by limiting the amount of surface area exposed to the oil flowing along the flow path.
