Abstract

The novel surfacing deposit for hot-working tools contains C 0.55 to 2.0% Si 0.2 to 4.0% Mn 0.2 to 3.0% Cr 4.0 to 6.5% Nb 2.5 to 15.0% W and/or Mo and/or vanadium V and/or Ti in total 0 to 3.5% Ni 0 to 0.5% Fe remainder with or without impurities, niobium and carbon appearing in a mutual ratio which is indicated by the hatched area in Figure 1 of the attached drawing. The surfacing deposit can be applied by means of known welding methods and shows on, for example, drop-forgings, press tools, extruder nozzles, injection-moulds, piercing mandrels for the piercing process, mandrels for the hot-drawing of pipes and rollers for hot-rolling mills etc., a greatly reduced tendency to hot cracking.
