Abstract

Método para preparar una composición rica en óxido de uranio a partir de hexafluoruro de uranio en una zona de reacción en presencia de una llama activa, que incluye las operaciones que consisten en: (a) introducir un primer reactivo gaseoso constituido por una mezcla de hexafluoruro de uranio y un gas que contiene oxígeno en una zona de reacción, (b) introducir un segundo reactivo gaseoso constituido por un gas reductor en la zona de reacción, (c) introducir separadamente un gas de apantallamiento en la zona de reacción entre el primer reactivo gaseoso y el segundo reactivo gaseoso para impedir temporalmente un mezclado y una relación sustancial entre los primero y segundo reactivos gaseosos hasta que se haya producido una difusión suficiente de los reactivos mientras estos atraviesan la zona de reacción, dando lugar a una reacción que produce una composición rica en dióxido de uranio en forma de partículas y a productos de reacción gaseosos, y (d) introducir un tercer reactivo gaseoso constituido por un gas que contiene oxígeno en contacto con la composición rica en dióxido de uranio en forma de partículas y con los productos de reacción gaseosos bajo la forma de corrientes múltiples, transformando así el gas reductor residual en la zona de reacción en una forma oxidada y oxidando la composición rica en dióxido de uranio para obtener un óxido de uranio más elevado, estando por lo menos una de las múltiples corrientes dispuesta río abajo respecto a la otra de modo que el calor de la reacción se distribuya en la zona de reacción.
