Abstract

Procedure for preparing electropainting characterized in that it comprises the steps of mixing (A) a polydiene reaction product chosen from (i), the reaction product of a polydiene resin with 4 to 30% of its weight of an alpha dicarboxylic acid, beta-ethylenically unsaturated; (ii) the reaction product of (i), which has been partially esterified with an alcohol containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the molecule; and (iii) the reaction product of a polydiene resin with 4 to 30% by weight of an alpha, beta-ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride, in which the anhydride content of the product has been substantially hydrolyzed to acid, or has has been substantially esterified with an alcohol containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the molecule, or has been substantially converted to a monoamide by reaction with ammonia or a primary or secondary amine; with (B) the reaction product of a polydiene resin with 4 to 30% of its weight of maleic anhydride or itaconic anhydride; and with (C) a thermally reactive phenol-formaldehyde resin; the acid number of components A and B in total being at least 30 mg KOH/gram; at least partially neutralize said composition; and disperse it in water.
