Abstract

Un método de tratar material residual de la producción hidro-metalúrgica de zinc, que consiste en un residuo de lixivación y/o precipitados ricos en hierro procedentes de la solución de lixivación , que contiene zinc y cantidades menores de plomo, cobre, metales preciosos e impurezas sustancialmente en forma de sulfuros, sulfatos, óxidos y ferritos, caracterizado porque el material residual se conduce a un reactor y se calienta, en condiciones no reductoras, a presiones parciales de oxígeno tales que el plomo presente forma óxido de plomo, después de lo cual se reduce el material por adición de un agente reductor en tal cantidad que el plomo y el zinc se reducen hasta un grado sustancial, mientras se evita la reducción simultánea del hierro y porque se expulsa en zinc en forma elemental.
