Abstract

A solar energy capture system that includes in combination: (a) cell means having an inlet and an outlet for the passage of a fluid means of energy transfer therethrough, surface means disposed within said cell means and arranged to expose said fluid medium of energy transfer contained therein, to incident solar energy; (b) a fluid energy transfer medium arranged to pass through said cell and comprising a fluid normally in the liquid state under ordinary ambient conditions, and which is normally translucent; (c) a means that absorbs solar energy in admixture with said fluid energy transfer medium and is present in amounts sufficient to render said medium substantially opaque to the incident solar energy; (d) means for passing said fluid means of energy transfer through said system; (e) a heat extraction vessel for receiving the fluid energy transfer medium from said cell means and having at least one heat exchange surface for extracting thermal energy from said fluid energy transfer medium; and (f) means for passing spent fluid transfer medium of energy exhausted from said heat extraction vessel to the inlet of said cell means.
