Abstract
A pressure impulse damping device, comprising a pressure vessel having a movable partition therein defining two chambers, each of which has a port in communication therewith, one of said ports defining a gas port, for charging one of said chambers with gas under pressure, and the other an oil port, valve means controlled by the movement of said partition to close said oil port, an oil port accessory comprising a hollow member having an opening axially aligned with said oil port and being rigidly secured thereto and in communication with it, said member having a fixed partition defining two chambers said fixed partition extending longitudinally with respect to said oil port and being essentially axially aligned therewith, each chamber in said hollow member having an end spaced out from said oil port e, said chamber having two separate openings that extend inside it and in communication, respectively, with said chambers, said fixed partition having fluid passage means therethrough, aligned with said two openings, thereby creating a first tortuous or sinuous path for the pressurized oil from one of said openings to the other of said openings, said oil port being in communication with said tortuous path and a second direct path being provided by said fluid passage means from a from said openings to the other of said openings for a part of the pressurized oil entering said first separate opening and means for varying the size of said fluid passage means.
