A closure formed integrally for a package of a lyophilized product, the package comprising a neck, an opening facing upwardly on said neck and an external radial ridge on said neck; said closure comprising: an upper wall section, a plug section extending downwardly from said wall section, said plug section comprising a port-like device for venting said container during a lyophilization process, and means to seat said closure in a first position in said neck during the lyophilization process with said port-like device positioned at least in part above said opening, a portion of a tear-down skirt extending downwardly from said section of top wall, and including means for adjusting said rim when said closure is seated in a second position in said neck with said port-like device placed in position below said opening to prevent escape to the outside of said container.
