Abstract
A method of preparing a non-phytotoxic composition for fighting fungi and mites comprising an effective amount of a triogan tin compound and a vehicle or solid, the process comprising the steps of a) preparing a triogan tin compound of the general formula **(See formula)** where X represents a radical selected from the group consisting of chlorine, bromine, fluorine, hydroxyl, cyanide, carbamate, thiocarbamate, amino (-NH2, -NR1H or -NR12), nitrate, enolate, carboxylate (-OCOR1), phenoxy, alkoxy (-OR1) and mercaptide (-SR1), where R1 represents an alcohol radical containing from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, inclusive, Y is an oxygen, sulfur or sulfate radical and n is an integer from 0 to 4 including by reacting an organomagnesium halide of the general formula **(See formula)** where X represents chlorine or bromine and n has the meaning defined above, with stannic chloride or bromide in a molar ratio of at least 3: 1, or reacting a tetraorgano tin compound of the general formula **(See formula)** where Z represents an alcoholic radical and n has the meaning defined above, with stannic chloride or bromide, and, if desired, converting the resulting triorganotin chloride or bromide to the corresponding fluoride, hydroxide, cyanide, carbamate, thiocarbamate, amine, nitrate, enolate, carboxylate, phenoxide, alkoxide, mercaptide, oxide, sulphide or sulfate, by means of conventional methods known as such for such conversions, and b) putting the triostatin compound prepared according to step a) in a form suitable for combat fungi and mites by adding said compound to a liquid solvent or diluent or to a solid vehicle, optionally in the presence of other conventional additives or adjuvants.
