Improvements in the construction of electrical grounding rods comprising a coupling device for joining grounding bar segments, comprising an elongated hollow shell of corrosion resistant material, an at least partially hollow conductive member of low impedance metal within and in substantially fixed relation to said casing, and intermediate stop means to the conductive member, adapted to substantially delimit the extent to which said bar segments can extend into the said conductive member at least partially hollow .
