Abstract

Enhancements to dynamic multi-station photometric analyzers for serological testing, including a rotor assembly defining a circular series of cuvettes for sample analysis, adapted to repeatedly pass between a light source and a photodetector for photometric analysis of the cell contents, characterized in that the improved rotor assembly defines: a circular series of loading cavities arranged concentric with the circular series of cuvettes for sample analysis, each of the loading cavities being in radial alignment with a corresponding cuvette in the circular series of cuvettes; sloping barriers interposed between the loading cavities and the trays, to avoid the transfer of liquid between them in static conditions, while allowing the centrifugal transfer of liquids, from the loading cavities to the corresponding trays, defining each of the barriers a radially oriented mixing conduit, which is located angularly with one side of the barrier and extends through the barrier, and a drain conduit that communicates with each of the cuvettes at an adjacent point to the redial end of the cuvette, leading the drainage conduit from the cuvette to an external source of vacuum.
