Abstract
Improvements introduced in internal combustion engines that have at least one cylinder in which a piston is housed, a main combustion chamber defined on the piston, an auxiliary combustion chamber provided with ignition means and communicating with the main combustion chamber by way of a flame conduit and means for feeding a relatively poor mixture and a relatively rich mixture to the main combustion chamber and the auxiliary combustion chamber, respectively, according to which said auxiliary combustion chamber is defined by an envelope of relative low heat capacity, the outer surface of which is substantially entirely spaced from a surrounding part of the engine, of relatively high heat capacity, when the engine is cold but is arranged to expand into heat conducting contact with said surrounding part when the engine is heated by working.
