Abstract

A procedure for the preparation of thienodiazepinone derivatives, of general formula: **(See formula)** wherein R1 and R2 interchangeably represent hydrogen atoms; single alkyl groups of one to six links with or without chain branches and with or without substituted or joined aromatic radicals; a polymethylene chain with three to six links, R3 representing a phenyl radical that can carry a substituent such as chlorine, nitro or trichloromethyl in any of its ortho, meta or para positions, characterized in that a 2-amino-3-aroyl derivative -thiophene, of general formula: **(See formula)** in which the substituents R1, R2 and R3 have the aforementioned significance, are reacted with oxazolidin-2,5-dione in the presence of hydrogen chloride and in a suitable solvent, such as methylene chloride, chloroform, ether or dimethylformamide, it being possible to carry out the reaction advantageously at room temperature, and isolating the product resulting from the reaction mixture by the usual techniques of crystallization or column chromatography.
