Abstract

Un método para separar bario de una sal de estroncio soluble en agua contaminada con una pequeña proporción de bario por precipitación con cromato, caracterizado porque se forma una solución acuosa de la sal de estroncio que contiene al menos 7% en peso de ión estroncio, por ejemplo en forma de cloruro de estroncio o nitrato de estroncio, preferiblemente 25 a 47% en peso de nitrato de estroncio a un pH menor de 4 y a una temperatura entre 250ºC y 120ºC, un cromato soluble en agua tal como un cromato de metal alcalino de amonio es añadido a la solución en una cantidad mayor que la estequiométrica basada en el bario, pero menor que la estequiométrica basada en el estroncio, por ejemplo en un exceso sobre la cantidad estquiométrica de desde 10% hasta 400% basado en el bario, el pH es ajustado a un valor entre 5 y 8 , por ejemplo de 6,5 a 7,5 preferiblemente por adición de amoníaco acuoso y se separa desde la solución cromato de bario precipitado.
