Abstract

Process for manufacturing a removable bottom containing one or more nozzles, for a furnace to refine molten metal, characterized in that it comprises placing a mold with the desired configuration on a bottom plate for said furnace, which contains at least one fixed vertical nozzle to the same, mold in said mold, at a temperature below 149º c, a substantially homogeneous, water-soluble mixture, comprising approximately 90 to 98% of a mixture composed of approximately 85% to 95% magnesite with a content of mgo of approximately 90 to 98%, a silica content of less than 3%, with a particle size of -3 mesh and a grain porosity of less than 12% of its total value, approximately 2 to 8 % hard pitch having a ring and ball softening temperature of about 99ºC to 149ºC and a particle size of -100 mesh, about 1 to 5% fine carbon with a particle size 100-mesh mesh, and approximately 1 to 8% of a water-soluble chemical binder, and approximately 2 to 10% of water to form a refractory plug around said vertical nozzle, air-drying said plug to air. Less for 8 hours, then heating said plug to a temperature of the order of about 93ºC to 426ºC for a period of about 12 to 100 hours, and removing said plug from said mold (Machine-translation by Google Translate, not legally binding)
