Abstract
A procedure for the preparation of a compound selected from the group of compounds represented by the following formulas: **(See formula)** where R1 is hydrogen or methyl; R2 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl; R3 is hydrogen, α-methyl or β-methyl; R4 is hydroxymethylene or the group (see formula), where R5 is hydrogen or methyl and R6 is hydrogen, hydrocarboxylic acyl of less than 12 carbon atoms or alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms; whose procedure consists of: 1) treating the corresponding 17β-hydroxy compound with a 4-halotetrahydropyran under reaction conditions or 2) treating a 3-keto- Δ 4-17βhydroxy compound with 4-methoxy-5,6-dihydro-2H-pyran in the presence of acid, to give the corresponding compound 17β- (4-methoxytetrahydropyran-4-yloxy) and, after converting the latter to the 3-hydroxy- Δ 5 compound through 3-enol acetate, treat with lithium aluminum hydride/aluminum chloride to give the 3-hydroxy- Δ 5-17β- compound. (tetrahydropyran-4-yloxy) and a) convert the product from step 2) to the corresponding 3-keto- Δ 4-17β- (tetrahydropyran-4-yloxy) compounds, or b) converting the product from step 2) or step a) into the corresponding 3-keto-5α-l7β- (tetrahydropyran-4-yloxy) compounds and c) converting the product from step b) to the 2-hydroxymethylene-3-keto-5α-17β- (tetrahydropyran-4-yloxy) compounds or d) converting the product from step b) to compounds 2α-methyl-3-keto-5α-17β- (tetrahydropyran-4-yloxy); and 3) optionally conventionally esterifying the 3-hydroxy group of the Δ 1,3,5 (10) products.
