Abstract

Procedure for the preparation of substituted derivatives of gem-diaryl-ethylene, of general formula: **(See formula)** wherein R represents a phenyl group or a 2-thienyl group; R1 represents **(See formula)** wherein R2 represents an alkyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkylalkyl group containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms; and Y represents: (A) an aminoalkylidene group of the formula = CR5-alq-NR3R4 in which it represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, "alq" represents an ethylene, 1- or 2-methylethylene or tri-methylene group, with the proviso that = CR5-alq- does not contain more than 4 carbon atoms, and R3 and R4 each represent a lower alkyl group or, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form a saturated heterocyclic group; or (B) an amino-cyclic group of the formula **(See formula)** where n is 0 to 2, R5 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, provided that = CR5-CnH2n- does not contain more than 3 carbon atoms, and Z is a divalent group that completes a saturated heterocyclic ring containing as at least one nitrogen atom and at least 4 carbon atoms, any nitrogen atom of the aforementioned being separated from the carbon atom to which the amino-cyclic group is attached, by a chain of 3 or 4 carbon atoms; characterized by comprising reacting a ketone compound of the formula: **(See formula)** with a Grignard reagent chosen from the formulas: **(See formula)** where X represents a chlorine, bromine or iodine atom, dehydrate the resulting carbinol product and recover a compound of formula (I) as product.
