Abstract

Decorative concrete, for use in situ or for mfr. of prefabricated structural elements, is produced by adding to a conventional concrete mixture 0.5-10.0 wt. % (w.r.t. cement) of a water-insoluble silica or metal silicate material having a specific surface area of 30-300 m2/g and particle size 40 mu (>=75%). Uniformly coloured spotless surface is obtained so that any after treatment or painting is unnecessary.
