Procedure for preparing new derivatives of 2-pyrrolidinones characterized by comprising substituted phenyl-2-pyrrolidinones that respond to the general formula **(See formula)** wherein R represents a halogen atom, an alkyl, haloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy radical containing up to 5 carbon atoms, a nitro, amino, or hydroxyl group; R1 is an alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl radical, containing up to 5 carbon, aryl or aralkyl atoms or the derivatives substituted on the nucleus thereof; R2 a hydrogen atom, an alkyl radical containing 1 to 5 carbon or aryl atoms; R3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl radical containing up to 7 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl or aralkyl radical and n is the integer 1, 2 or 3 and its cis and trans diastereoisomers.
