Abstract

A color television decoding system for a receiver intended for receiving a composite color television signal comprising oscillatory pulse phase sync signals, luminance signal components, and first and second chrominance signal components amplitude modulated on a common subcarrier and having quadrature phase modulation axes, the color phase sequence of the first and second components of the chrominance signal being periodically inverted, said decoding system comprising: a) delay means to retard said chrominance components in a predetermined space of time; b) switching means for transmitting sections of said chrominance components for selected intervals of time, each equal to said predetermined period of time, whereby said delay means and said switching means cooperate to produce a selected continuous chrominance signal ; c) first and second demodulating means to demodulate said selected continuous chrominance signal; d) first and second generating means for generating signals, first and second, respectively, said first signal having one of said modulation axes fixed, and said second signal in phase coinciding with the selected oscillatory impulse signals; e) control means connected to said generating means to control the phase of said signals; f) means for connecting said first generating means to said first demodulating means to obtain said first chrominance component; and g) means for connecting said second generating means to said second demodulating means to obtain a demodulated signal.
