Abstract

1514435 Colour television systems ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 30 Sept 1976 [1 Oct 1975] 40603/76 Heading H4F In a colour television system digital colour information relating to alternate fields only is transmitted. At the transmitter the colour signal A is split (B) into luminance Y, and chrominance C components. The chrominance component is demodulated (D) and encoded (E) in differential pulse code form. A half field frequency switch F passes only alternate, e.g. odd, fields of encoded information. Each odd field is transmitted and passes via half line frequency switch L at the receiver to a store H which stores information relating only to alternate, e.g. odd, picture elements. During even field periods a store G at the transmitter, which stores only the even picture elements of the preceding odd field, is read out to a store I at the receiver. The outputs of the stores H and I are combined to provide a complete odd field of encoded information during each field period, the information in the field changing at half field rate. The information is decoded (M) and modulated (N) before being added to the transmitted luminance component Y, which has been delayed by one field period, to provide the complete colour television signal.
