Abstract
Procedure for the preparation of semi-synthetic penicillins of the general formula II: **(See formula)** wherein A represents an aliphatic chain of 2 to 3 carbon atoms, which may be saturated or unsaturated and has as a substituent C1-C3 alkyl groups hydroxyl, lower alkoxy, lower acyloxy or amino and R represents hydrogen, a group of lower alkyl, a lower alkoxy group, or a halogen atom, provided that the grouping **(See formula)** does not mean C6H5 -CH = CH- or C6H5-CH (CH3) -CH2-characterized by reacting 6-amino-penicillanic acid with a reactive acid derivative of the general formula **(See formula)** wherein A and R have the same definition as in claim 1 and, provided that A has an amine group as its substituent, the latter is protected in a known manner before conversion of the acid to its reactive derivative; while X represents a halogen atom (preferably chlorine) or the group C2H5 COO-, in an inert solvent and in the presence of an acid-accepting substance.
