A method of improving vinyl chloride resins with respect to the influence of heat, which comprises incorporating into them in stabilizing amounts (a) a compound (I) of the formula R2SnZ2 and (b) a compound (II) of the formula RSnZ3, where R is an alcohol radical of 1 to 18 carbon atoms and -Z is -S (CH1) nCOOR', -OCOCH = CHCOOR', -OCOR'or -SR1, where n is equal to 1 or 2 and R is'an alcohol radical of 1 to 18 carbon atoms, compound II being present in an amount of 5 to 40% by weight of compound I.
