Abstract

Glass fibre reinforced resin masts are produced by (a) preparing an assembly by winding strands or strips of woven or nonwoven glass fibres onto a core which can be inflated and deflated, (b) placing this assembly in a vertical tubular mould, to leave an annular space between the assembly and the internal wall of the mould, (c) pouring a polyester or epoxy-resin into the mould to fill the annular space, (d) curing the structure within the mould, and (e) extracting the elongated structure from the mould and separating the core. - Glass fibre reinforced resin structures such as masts, columns and posts produced rapidly and economically. - The structures have good uniformity.
