Abstract
Alkene polymers are prepared by polymerizing one or more alkenes in a solvent at a temperature above 110 C. with the aid of a catalyst obtained by mixing a titanium halide, an aluminium compound of the general formula AlR 3-m X m where R is a C 1-30 hydrocarbon, X is halogen and m is 1-3, and an organomagnesium compound, the molar ratio of the magnesium compound to the aluminium compound being (m - A)/B where mis the number of halogen atoms per aluminium atom in the aluminium compound, A is - 0.75 to + 0.97 and B is 2.2 to 2.7, the molar ratio of the aluminium compound to the titanium compound being 8-2000.
