Abstract

A steam turbine power plant comprising at least a first turbine driven by steam at a first pressure, and a second turbine driven by steam at a second pressure exiting from said first turbine, a superheater interposed between said first and second turbines second to reheat the steam from the first turbine before its admission to the second turbine, said superheater comprising a reservoir or container defining a chamber for the steam to be reheated and a bundle of heat exchange tubes arranged in said chamber, a first conduit means for admitting heating steam to said tube bundle and thus heating the vapor in said chamber, and means for removing from said bundle of tubes the condensation water formed during the resulting heat exchange; characterized said disposition to comprise means of air purging said tubes, said means including a second conduit that gives a fluid communication between said tubes and a region of pressure lower than atmospheric, and a purge valve disposed in said conduit and movable to an opening position that allows said purge and a closing position that terminates said purge.
