Abstract

Trichloroacryloyl chloride and organic carboxylic acid chlorides are simultaneously prepared by heating hexachloropropene with a carboxylic acid to a temperature of 50 to 220 C. and separating the products from the reaction mixture by distillation. Zinc chloride, ferric chloride or iodine may be present as catalyst in an amount of 0-01 to 10% by weight.
