Abstract

An open end spinning rotor has vacuum generating means in the form of a duct 16 extending across the the rotor and connected by an opening 15 with the chamber in which the fibre collecting surface is situated. The distance a between the duct side walls across the centre of the rotor exceeds the maximum width of opening 15 by not more than 125%. The tangent tA, tB to a duct side wall drawn at points where radii AK, BK are tangential to the centre opening from an angle [alpha] exceeding 120 . The upper and lower surfaces of the duct, e.g. surface 19 preferably forms an angle 45 -90 with the axis of the rotor. As in Figs. 6 and 7 not shown the duct may have 2 or 3 branches. The cross section of the duct may be uniform and be of semi-circular, square, trapezoidal or circular cross-section.
