Abstract
In a steam generator having draught guide walls arranged within an outer shell 10 and formed of a plurality of vertically disposed water tubes 2 which are welded into a water chamber at the bottom and into an evaporation chamber 8 at the top, at least one of the water tubes 3 in the guide wall is constructed and operates as a soot blower tube by being closed at its top and bottom and provided in its longitudinal wall with at least one steam outlet. nozzle 5, the soot blower tube being connected to the evaporation chamber 8 by means of a separate pipe 7 having a shut-off element 6 incorporated therein for interrupting the flow of steam from the evaporation chamber to the soot blower tube 5. As shown, the water tube wall 2 includes two soot blower tubes 5 each having an upper and a lower pair of nozzles 5, 5. When the shut-off elements 6 are closed and the boiler is in use the tubes 5 become hotter than the adjacent water tubes so that they are fixed at 9 to the wall 1 at their upper ends and are connected to the wall 1 at their lower ends by mutually engaging angle pieces 13 so that they can expand freely downwards. Each upper connection consists of a longitudinal strip 11 which covers a slit 12 in the shell 10 and for long soot blower tubes intermediate expansion connections such as 13 may be provided. The strip 11 is screwed on to the shell 10 so that it can be removed to provide an inspection opening. When a plurality of soot blower tubes are provided they are taken into service in sequence.
