Abstract
Improvements introduced in the object of the main patent nº351.834, filed on March 21, 1968, for: "PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF ISOINDOL DERIVATIVES" of formula I, **(See formula)** wherein each of R, R1, and R2, which may be identical or different, signifies a hydrogen, chlorine, or fluorine atom, or a trifluoromethyl radical, a straight-chain alkyl radical of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a straight chain alkoxy radical of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, provided that 1) R, R1 and R2 have a meaning such that a trifluoromethyl radical is never found in each of two adjacent carbon atoms, and 2) when R or R2 is a trifluoromethyl radical, R1 is a hydrogen, chlorine or fluorine atom, each of R3, R4 and R5, which may be identical or different, means a hydrogen, chlorine or fluorine atom, and R6 means a hydrogen or fluorine atom, with the additional conditions that not more than two of R3, R4, R5, and R6 have a meaning other than hydrogen, and that not more than three of R, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 have a meaning other than hydrogen with R preferably chlorine or hydrogen, R1 chlorine and R2 to R6 hydrogen, charac bristling because a compound of formula II **(See formula)** in which R to R6 have the meanings indicated above, it is reduced with lithium aluminum hydride in an inert ether solvent, under an inert atmosphere, preferably in tetrohydrofuran under a nitrogen atmosphere, the reduction being carried out at the reflux temperature, preferably at a temperature between 45 and 85ºC, and the resulting reduced product of formula III: **(See formula)** wherein the various radicals are defined as above, a weak oxidizing agent, such as air or oxygen, is contacted, preferably by introducing air or oxygen into a solution of said reduced product in an inert organic solvent.
