Abstract

A wire is severed and its insulation stripped by applying heated insulation severing blades 58, 60, 581, 601, severing the wire by blades 4, 6 gripping the insulation by plates 32, 34, 46, 48, retracting the heated blades and withdrawing the wires from the gripped insulation. Blades 58, 581 are secured to fixed conductors 70, 701, and blades 60, 601 are movable. Similarly upper blade 4 and plates 32, 34 are fixed and blade 6 and plates 46, 48 are movable. The severed ends of insulation are removed by a pneumatically-operated member 92 having legs 94, 96, which may replace plates 32, 34.
