Abstract

An instrument for stripping and separating the cores of a multicore flat cable which is suitable for incorporation into a machine using the stripped cable for further assembly operations: a pair of cutting blades (4, 5) are applied to cut partly through the insulation at a short distance from the end of the cable after which the cable is drawn back to strip the insulation from the ends; a second cutting blade then cuts between the separate cores further back from the bared ends to isolate the cores which still retain their insulation, and at the same time bends alternate cores upwards and downwards in two planes to facilitate making connections.
