Abstract

Pharmaceutical compositions having antidepressant, tranquilizing and analgesic activity, for oral, rectal or parenteral administration, comprise a compound of Formula I in which each of R 1 and R 2 is hydrogen, C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-6 alkoxy, nitro, halogen or trifluoromethyl, R 3 is hydrogen or C 1-6 alkyl, R 4 is hydrogen, C 1-6 alkyl, C 2-6 alkenyl, w-[di-(C 1-6 alkyl) amino]-C 1-6 alkyl or w-hydroxy-C 1-6 alkyl, or -NR 3 R 4 is a 4-C 1-6 alkyl-1-piperazinyl, 4-(hydroxy-C 1-6 alkyl)-1 -piperazinyl, 4-(dialkylamino-C 1-6 alkyl)-1-piperazinyl, piperidino, morpholino or 2,2-polymethylene-hydrazino group, and Z is oxygen, sulphur or =N-C 1-6 alkyl, or an acid addition salt thereof, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent. The compositions may be in the form of tablets, capsules, dragees, drops, emulsions, syrups, solutions, suspensions or suppositories. The compounds of Formula I may also be incorporated in chocolate, candy and chewing gum.
