Abstract

P.V.C. is plasticized with a toluene-formaldehyde condensate. Up to 50% may be used, alone or mixed with ester plasticizers such as 2-ethyl hexyl phthalate, dioctyl phthalate and/or dibutyl phthalate. Cadmium stearate may be added. The mixture is heated to form a gel which on cooling gives an elastomer.
