Abstract

In a vapour generator in which liquid supplied at 38 flows through an annular downcomer space 29 into a vertical vapour generator shell 17 in which the liquid is evaporated by heating tubes 18, an adjustable ring 45 is provided in the downcomer space. The tubes 18 are supplied with heated liquid, e.g. from a nuclear reactor and the generated vapour flows through a riser 35 and a moisture remover 37 to an outlet 15. The ring 45, which is apertured and pro. duces a pressure drop in the water flowing through the downcomer thereby stabilizing the operation, is carried by adjustable threaded rods 46.
