Abstract

A continuous process for heating, drying and/or heat setting a tow of filaments consisting of or containing a synthetic polymer comprises passing the tow in an unravelled state after leaving a crimping chamber through a high frequency electric field having a strength of at least 0.2 kilovolt/centimetre and a frequency of at least 2 megacycles/second.
