A method for manufacturing steel comprising the operations of: a) loading preheated scrap material for steelmaking in a metallurgical furnace; b) burning an oxygen fuel mixture in said furnace with which said steelmaking material is reduced to molten steel and hot gases are evolved; c) passing said hot gases through a preheating vessel containing a certain amount of scrap material for the manufacture of steel; d) passing said gases to a cooling tower of waste gases in which said gases are cooled; e) passing said gases to an exhaust stack; f) emptying said furnace; g) emptying the pre-heated scrap material for the manufacture of steel in said furnace; h) recharge the empty preheater vessel with cold scrap material for steelmaking; and i) resume the cycle of operations to make another steel stock.
