Abstract

In electrically-operable hair clippers having a removable cutting head 3, the cutting blade 35, which is a light piece cut from a metallic sheet, is driven by a D.C. motor 2 excited by a permanent magnet rotating at a substantially constant speed, the clippers, which are connected to an A.C. source, incorporating a bridgemounted rectifier (75), Fig. 2 (not shown). The blade 35 is U-shaped in transverse cross-section and has a guiding recess 39, Figs. 3 and 5, engaged by noses 40 carried by flexible tongues 41 fastened to a moulded support 32. The motor 2 is installed in a casing 1, Fig. 1, comprising two moulded shells 5, 6. The shaft 18 of the motor armature carries a pinion 27 which meshes with a gear-wheel 28 integral with an eccentric bearing 29 rotating between the legs of a U-shaped portion 46, Fig. 3, operatively connected to the blade 35 so as to reciprocate the latter relatively to comb 31. The cutter-head 3 is secured to the body of the clippers by means of pins 47, 48 on the body engaging holes 49, 50 in the head 3 and locked in position by means of spring wires 51 engaging notches 52 on the pins. The wires 51 are secured to an operating knob 62. The stator unit comprises a magnet location ring 11, Fig. 1, presenting two polar zones of unlike polarities and surrounded by a mild steel corona. The motor armature comprises a pile of magnetic plates (15), Fig. 7 (not shown), with three teeth and three indentations, covered at both sides by rod insulators (54, 55) similarly cut out and securing the electric winding 56, Fig. 1, which connected to segments (59), Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown), of a moulded part (58).
