Abstract
A tunnel lock which may be readily assembled for interconnecting two hermetic enclosures A, B having spaced walls 2, 5 separated by shielding 7, comprises a tube 1 welded to wall 2 and demountably connected to a tube 6 by a flange 12 having a ring gasket, the flange 12 being welded to the tube 1 and co-operating with a flange 11 secured to the tube 6. The other end 13 of the tube 6 having a ring gasket co-operates with a tube 3 mounted on the wall 5 by a flange 41 having ring gaskets 45. The gaskets 45 are held between flanges 42, 43 secured by screws 44 to the wall 5. The lower end of tube 1 is closed by a pivoted counterweighted door 8 and the upper end of tube 6 is closed by a similar door (not shown). To transfer articles between the enclosures A, B, the tubes 1, 6 have rails 14, 15 for a carriage 16, this carriage having a track for a top carriage 17.
